Green juice should be the official St. Paddy’s day drink…(days 8 and 9 of the cleanse)

18 Mar

So the weekend of St. Patrick has come and gone, and rather than spending the Saturday day-drinking green beer, I went for a nice walk around the neighborhood with my mom and took a visit to the zoo. We were able to do one of our favorite activities: people-watching (judging). As I sat on my high horse of juicing cleanliness, I couldn’t help but notice that seemingly every group of people walking through the zoo included at least one HUGE person.

I have been gaining and losing weight since I can remember, but the toughest part for me is that I already eat healthily. It’s not like I can just cut Mountain Dew from my diet and drop 20 lbs. I can’t remember the last time I had a non-diet soda. I looked at the gargantuan-sized men and women waddling through the zoo, chugging on liter-sized bottles of sugary sodas, and was so annoyed. For so many large people, simply cutting out soda from their diet would yield huge losses on the scale. But I digress…

I celebrated St. Patrick’s day with a large glass of tasty green juice and took advantage of the sunshine with light exercise rather than having far too many green beers followed by a massive hangover. This morning, per usual, I woke up bright and early and headed to the supermarket to prepare for Tuesday, a.k.a., THE FIRST DAY THAT I CAN EAT AGAIN.

I have to admit, I have reallllllly been dreaming of food the last couple of days. I have to remind you that I am not hungry or anything, but I have been (stupidly) tuned in to Food Network, and thinking of healthy ways to incorporate some of the recipes I’ve seen. I’d also like to curse Guy Fieri for absolutely killing me with Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives…it provoked me to do a Google search for “non-dairy shrimp and grits recipes.”

I can’t wait to share some of the amazing recipes that I come up with after the fast…but before I can say a la cuisine, it’s a la Breville for one more day.

xoxo,
the happenstance gourmande
